Landscape Architecture Projects

SLALEY HALL, Northumberland

Slaley Hall is set in 1000 acres of beautiful Northumbrian woodland and moorland. The lodges sit within this landscape, careful siting was required to achieve minimal ecological impact. Plus maintaining the long term viability of the retained woodland and landscapes via detailed planting and woodland management proposals. By maintaining a site presence during the clearance and enablement works the monitoring and practical advice role ensured bio diversity was protected, tree retention was maximised and mitigation works were a real positive and all combined to give the developed landscapes a viable future.

MOOR HALL, Michelin Star Restaurant

Moor Hall is a Grade II listed Gentry House, located in West Lancashire. Sitting within 5 acres of mature landscaped grounds with a small lake and extensive kitchen garden. Working closely with the restaurants professional grower we have created a new kitchen garden within the walls of the original kitchen garden. The layout responded to their needs to provide a range of vegetables, herbs and cut flowers throughput the year. Totally organic produce with a very local story from kitchen garden to plate. Woodland management was put in place to allow the creation of woodland walks and the lake was carefully restored to enhance its bio diversity value.

SOUTH MIMMS Motorway Service AREA M25 / A1M.

South Mimms MSA was the first built on the M25 on its junction with A1M. This design and build project was carried out by Steve during his time at BAM Construction. Careful consideration to the buildings and their associated infra structure positioning within the countryside was important. As was the extension of adjacent existing ecological elements such as strong hedge lines and field patterns into the development. Combined with extensive tree and native woodland planting the aim was to create a green oasis for travellers and existing flora and fauna to flourish in.

CHERRY TREE FARM, Great Kingshill, Buckinghamshire.

Cherry Tree Farm is a bespoke development of 6 barn conversions set on the edge of arable farmland, adjacent to the village of Kingshill. Our role was to masterplan the development to ensure its development potential was reached whilst at the same time ensuring the important landscape character was maintained and enhanced. We worked closely with the developer who was like minded to ensure compliance in terms of landscape protection and good environmental practice, plus assisting in developing the marketing proposals.

ELDERHOLME, Clatterbridge Health Park.

We have designed two gardens for the private care home. The front garden at the funders request is traditional with emphasis on providing seasonal change and attractive to wildlife.. The rear garden is a quieter more reflective garden with seating areas wrapped around with ornamental grasses, sat around a semi dry water feature. Water issues from the steel balls and circulates through a pebble stream providing aural and visual stimulation. A small Astro lawn has been included to allow clean play and relaxation of resident’s and their families. Our aim being to provide an inclusive space useable throughout the year. With herbaceous perennials and extensive bulb planting creating highlights throughout the year.

NORTH WALES BUSINESS PARK, Abergele.

North Wales Business Park lies on the edge of the town, 300mm from the exposed and windy shoreline. This has created unique and difficult conditions on the site for tree and plants to establish in. Through trialling various plant mixes a successful palette was developed and rolled out across the development. A network of swales and ponds was created to aid drainage but also to improve the bio diversity, this combined with extensive aquatic planting and marginal treatment provided both aesthetic and ecological benefits across the project.
